StorMagic promotes Tobias Pföhler to Sales Chief for EMEA
Wed, 20th May 2026 (Today)
StorMagic has promoted Tobias Pföhler to Director of Sales for EMEA, giving him responsibility for sales strategy across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Pföhler was previously Regional Sales Manager for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, where he had focused on sales growth in the DACH market since joining the company in 2018. In his new role, he will lead the regional sales organisation and work with product and marketing teams on route-to-market planning.
The appointment comes as virtualisation software suppliers respond to changing demand in the mid-market and edge computing segments. Pföhler's immediate priorities include broadening StorMagic's network of specialist channel partners, increasing its presence in on-premises hyperconverged infrastructure and edge deployments, and working more closely with technology partners to shorten deal cycles.
Regional focus
The promotion highlights the importance of EMEA as a sales region as businesses reassess their virtualised IT environments. Founded in 2006, StorMagic sells virtualisation software for organisations running applications and data across environments ranging from a single site to thousands of outlets.
Pföhler now takes overall responsibility for growth across the wider EMEA region, expanding his remit beyond the German-speaking markets he previously oversaw directly.
Scott Mann, Global SVP of Sales at StorMagic, cited Pföhler's work in DACH in explaining the decision.
"Tobias Pföhler has consistently demonstrated strong leadership, deep market understanding and a clear ability to execute, particularly in driving growth across the DACH region for several years," said Scott Mann, Global SVP of Sales at StorMagic.
"He brings the right combination of strategic vision and hands-on experience to scale our presence across EMEA, and I am confident he will play a pivotal role in strengthening our partner ecosystem and accelerating our momentum in these key markets."
Channel strategy
Channel development will be a central part of the expanded role. StorMagic wants to deepen regional market coverage by building a network of specialist partners that can sell and support its software in local markets.
That approach reflects the continued importance of indirect sales in infrastructure software, particularly in markets where customers rely on resellers and integrators for deployment and support. It also places greater emphasis on working with technology partners to shorten the sales cycle for customers and partners alike.
StorMagic also sees room to strengthen its position in on-premises HCI and edge computing environments. Those segments remain relevant for organisations that want to keep workloads close to where data is created or used, whether for operational, cost or resilience reasons.
Pföhler said many customers were taking a cautious, practical view of their infrastructure choices.
"Many companies are currently taking a very pragmatic approach to assessing how they can continue to operate their virtualised environments in a stable and cost-effective manner, and are actively seeking predictable alternatives in the market," said Tobias Pföhler, Director of Sales EMEA at StorMagic.
"This is where StorMagic comes in: with solutions that can be clearly positioned, make sensible use of existing hardware and, together with our partners, be efficiently translated into real customer projects.
"For me, the key is flawless execution - close to the market, with clear use cases and a team that consistently delivers for our customers and partners. I'm excited to take on this new role and continue to build on our success."
The promotion broadens the regional remit of an executive who has already led one of StorMagic's established European territories. It also signals that the company expects partner-led sales and edge-related deployments to remain central to its EMEA business.
