Intelligent Servers has rebranded as Renewtech following its acquisition by the Danish circular IT group of the same name.

The move brings the Harrogate business into a European operation with offices in six countries and customers in more than 80.

Renewtech UK, formerly Intelligent Servers, will continue to operate from its Harrogate base. Its technical specialists, account managers and service standards will remain unchanged for UK customers.

The rebrand completes the British business's integration into the wider Renewtech group after last year's acquisition. The combined operation now spans Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, France, the UK and Finland.

The deal reflects ongoing consolidation in the refurbished enterprise IT market, as specialist suppliers seek greater scale and inventory amid growing demand for lower-cost alternatives to new hardware. The new structure gives UK customers access to a broader stock of equipment and wider technical support.

Andy Hughes, former owner of Intelligent Servers and now Managing Director of Renewtech UK, said the business would keep the same local team while drawing on the wider group's resources.

"The people, the expertise, and the service our customers rely on have not changed. What has changed is what stands behind us. Through Renewtech, our customers now have access to a much larger inventory, shorter lead times, and both a broader range of enterprise infrastructure solutions and technical expertise," Hughes said.

The business has operated in the refurbished enterprise hardware market for 15 years, supplying servers, storage and networking equipment. Under the new brand, it is positioning refurbished IT hardware as a primary purchasing option for organisations looking to cut costs, extend the life of existing systems and meet environmental targets.

Market shift

The refurbished IT sector has attracted more attention as businesses face higher technology costs and growing pressure to reduce waste. Suppliers typically buy, test and resell used enterprise equipment, giving customers a way to maintain or expand data centre infrastructure without buying new systems.

The UK operation will now be able to offer a wider range of stock and digital tools for sourcing and configuring equipment. These include a parts finder, an online infrastructure configurator and a third-party verified sustainability calculator.

Hughes said the rebrand would help the business build on its existing position while widening its reach.

"We've spent the last 15 years building a reputation for technical expertise and straightforward service. Becoming Renewtech allows us to build on those foundations while helping more organisations make smarter and more sustainable IT purchasing decisions. We now have tools designed to simplify sourcing and configuration, including a parts finder, online infrastructure configurator and third-party verified sustainability calculator. That takes us a major step forward in our ambitions," he said.

European footprint

The parent group describes itself as a circular enterprise IT specialist focused on sourcing, maintaining and retiring servers, storage and networking equipment from major manufacturers. Its services include hardware sales, third-party maintenance, IT asset disposition and carbon reporting linked to equipment reuse.

The UK operation's integration into the group gives it access to what the company describes as more than 250,000 hardware options. That broader catalogue is likely to form a key part of its pitch to British customers needing replacement parts or expansion equipment for existing systems no longer supported by original manufacturers.

Renewtech also says it holds ISO 9001, 14001, 27001 and 45001 certifications across the group, covering quality, environmental, information security, and occupational health and safety management.

The Harrogate site remains central to the UK business, with Hughes continuing to lead the operation as Managing Director of Renewtech UK.
