Mace strengthens leadership for UK-Ireland data centre growth
Mace has made two significant senior appointments within its Technology & Manufacturing division to enhance its capacity for delivering data centres in the growing UK and Ireland markets.
Elaine Denman, who has been with Mace since 2018, has been promoted to the role of Commercial Director for Technology & Manufacturing. Previously, Denman served as Commercial Director within the Private Sector business unit, where she managed several complex projects and introduced innovative construction approaches. Over her 30-year career, she has accumulated extensive experience, having worked with various blue-chip technology clients and overseen major hyperscale data centre projects. Her career has also taken her overseas to places such as Australia and the United States.
Caroline Batter has re-joined Mace as an Operations Director after a 12-year absence. Prior to her return, Batter was one of the founders of the Yondr Group, where she played a crucial role in delivering numerous hyperscale data centres across 15 countries in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, with capacities of up to 96 MW. Batter brings over 20 years of specialist experience in the data centre market, with expertise in contracting, consulting, and client roles, delivering more than a gigawatt of data centre capacity.
Alister Grey, Managing Director for Technology & Manufacturing at Mace Construct, commented on these appointments. "The surge in cloud computing and AI in recent years has created an urgent need for data centres to be constructed in the UK and Ireland," Grey observed.
He added, "We are responding to this demand, and with this move, are strengthening our senior team with two experienced and commercially astute leaders. Elaine and Caroline will be instrumental in delivering for our clients going forward in this growing market."
The announcement highlights Mace's strategic response to the burgeoning demand for data centres, a trend significantly driven by advancements in cloud computing and artificial intelligence. With these appointments, Mace aims to consolidate its position and expertise in the data centre construction industry in the UK and Ireland.
