NTT Data rolls out AI ops platform for Daimler Truck

NTT DATA has rolled out its AI infrastructure operations platform for Daimler Truck, covering global IT, cloud, SAP and network operations.

The arrangement puts NTT DATA in charge of monitoring and managing a broad part of Daimler Truck's technology estate across sites worldwide. The platform is intended to provide a single operational view across local and global environments while tracking tens of thousands of devices in real time.

The work centres on infrastructure operations rather than application development. It includes oversight of IT and cloud infrastructure, SAP Basis and network operations, as well as coordination of hardware refreshes and lifecycle planning to keep production locations connected.

Global scope

Daimler Truck is one of the world's largest commercial vehicle manufacturers, making the scale of the rollout notable for the managed services market. The deployment reflects continued demand from industrial groups for tighter control over fragmented infrastructure spread across factories, offices and cloud systems.

Manufacturing companies face growing pressure to reduce outages that can disrupt plant activity and logistics flows. In response, infrastructure service suppliers have increasingly focused on predictive monitoring, automated incident management and centralised visibility across networks and core systems.

NTT DATA said the platform is designed to detect issues early through predictive analytics and automate multistage incident handling. The aim is to reduce downtime, limit manual work and improve response times when faults emerge across complex global environments.

The operating model also combines on-site staff with offshore delivery teams. Large service providers commonly use that structure to maintain round-the-clock support while balancing local knowledge with centralised operational processes.

Operations model

The system is intended to unify functions that have often been run in separate silos at regional or site level. Bringing IT infrastructure, SAP support and network operations into one operational framework can give companies a more consistent view of service health and equipment status across multiple countries.

For manufacturers, the practical side of infrastructure management can be as important as software oversight. Hardware replacement cycles, capacity planning and coordinated upgrades all affect whether production sites stay connected without unexpected service gaps.

NTT DATA described the platform as part of a broader push to support complex enterprise environments with real-time monitoring, predictive analytics and automation. It said the Daimler Truck deployment shows how those tools can be applied at global scale in industrial settings.

Market context

The deal also highlights how service providers are trying to move AI use in corporate technology operations beyond pilot projects. Rather than focusing on chatbots or standalone productivity tools, infrastructure operations platforms target routine monitoring and support tasks that generate large volumes of operational data and repeatable workflows.

That makes them a natural testing ground for predictive models and automation, especially in businesses with dispersed assets and strict uptime requirements. In sectors such as vehicle manufacturing, even short interruptions in network access or core systems can have knock-on effects on production schedules and supply chains.

NTT DATA says it is a business and technology services group with annual revenue of more than USD $30 billion and operations in more than 70 countries.
