Vertiv unveils AI service for predictive data centre care
Vertiv has launched Vertiv Next Predict, an AI-powered managed service that targets predictive maintenance for modern data centres and so-called AI factories.
The company positions the service as an alternative to time-based maintenance schedules and reactive repair work. Vertiv said the service analyses asset behaviour and flags potential issues before they affect operations.
AI and operations
Vertiv said the service combines field expertise with machine learning. It applies anomaly detection to operating conditions and identifies deviations from expected behaviour at an early stage.
The company said a predictive algorithm then assesses potential operational impact. It assigns a risk level and sets response priorities. Vertiv said the service runs root cause analysis and identifies contributing factors. It then defines prescriptive actions based on system data and operational context.
Vertiv said qualified Vertiv Services personnel carry out corrective measures. The service sits within Vertiv's broader portfolio of AI-related infrastructure products and services, which spans power, cooling, and IT systems.
Vertiv linked the launch to changes in data centre operations as AI workloads grow. The company said facilities need greater visibility and control across critical infrastructure. It also pointed to the use of advanced analytics and predictive maintenance strategies across distributed environments.
Ryan Jarvis, Vice President of the Global Services Business Unit at Vertiv, described the shift as a response to rising compute intensity and changing infrastructure.
"Data centre operators need innovative technologies to stay ahead of potential risks, as compute intensity rises and infrastructures evolve," said Ryan Jarvis, Vice President of the Global Services Business Unit at Vertiv. "Vertiv Next Predict helps data centres unlock uptime, shifting maintenance from traditional calendar-based routines to a proactive, data-driven strategy. We move from assumptions to informed decisions, by continuously monitoring equipment condition and enabling risk mitigation before potential impacts to operations."
Supported equipment
Vertiv said Next Predict currently supports a range of Vertiv power and cooling platforms. The company listed battery energy storage solutions and liquid cooling components among the supported areas.
Vertiv framed the service as an option for operators managing higher-density environments. The company has expanded its liquid cooling portfolio in response to heat loads associated with AI infrastructure. It also sells power systems that sit behind critical IT and networking equipment.
Integration plans
Vertiv said the service design includes scalability. The company said it expects integration with future data centre technologies as part of a "grid-to-chip service architecture". Vertiv did not provide details on pricing or customer availability.
The launch also ties to Vertiv's services business. The company said its services organisation has decades of experience in critical digital infrastructure. It also cited a global network of Vertiv-trained technicians and the use of AI-based analytics.
Vertiv markets products and services across power, cooling and IT infrastructure for data centres and other facilities. It operates in more than 130 countries.
