Mansfield Pollard & BladeRoom join forces for green data centre cooling

Thu, 10th Jul 2025

Mansfield Pollard and BladeRoom Data Centres have established a formal partnership aimed at advancing cooling solutions for data centres across the UK and internationally.

The cooperation builds on a prior 15-year relationship between the two companies, during which they have jointly supported the requirements of the data centre market, focusing on mission-critical cooling systems.

The partnership will prioritise research and development to meet the growing demand for advanced air and chilled water-based cooling technologies. This is particularly relevant as sectors such as artificial intelligence and high-performance computing see rapidly increasing cooling needs.

To date, more than 210MW of IT cooling solutions have been delivered as a result of the collaboration, with additional systems currently in production. These solutions are constructed with adaptability in mind, enabling support for new compute technologies while remaining compatible with existing data centre infrastructure.

Changing requirements in chipsets and processing densities continue to drive a need for more robust cooling capabilities. As part of their joint endeavours, the companies will focus on hybrid system architectures that incorporate elements of both air and liquid cooling. This approach is designed to facilitate integration within new data centre facilities as well as support retrofitting projects that aim to prolong the operational lifespan of established data centres.

Both parties have highlighted the importance of sustainability, resilience, and operational efficiency within the new solutions they are developing. This continued focus supports broader market trends and regulatory pressures for greener and more energy-efficient data centre operations.

Chief Executive of Mansfield Pollard, Louise Ellis-Frankland, noted these shared objectives as underpinning the partnership.

Mansfield Pollard and BladeRoom Data Centres have always been aligned in our values, especially when it comes to sustainability, energy efficiency, and technological advances. Both companies have a strong focus on responsible manufacturing and driving innovation, making this partnership a natural evolution in our longstanding relationship. Our expertise in creating custom, highly energy-efficient air management solutions integrates seamlessly with BladeRoom's focus on low-energy, highly efficient data centres of any scale, anywhere in the world. Our partnership aims to combine the best of these specialisms and together, we aim to take operational resilience to an unprecedented level. However, it's not just about meeting the needs of today; together we're anticipating the future, and our goal is to provide solutions that are so efficient they set a new standard in the industry.

Will Thornton, Chief Executive of BladeRoom Data Centres, emphasised the new opportunities that arise from the relationship with Mansfield Pollard.

As a company that prides itself on delivering low-energy, high-efficiency data centre infrastructure solutions at any scale, our partnership with Mansfield Pollard adds a whole new dimension to what we can offer our clients. Their innovative technologies align seamlessly with our commitment to dramatically reduce energy consumption and build the world's most efficient, sustainable, and operationally superior data centres.

The partnership will also address the need to update existing facilities with new cooling technologies. Edward Dusting, Head of Sales for BladeRoom Data Centres, commented on this aspect of the collaboration.

This collaboration also focuses on retrofitting our existing facilities with cutting-edge, energy-efficient cooling technologies, be that via air or water. This ensures that already established data centre estates, such as those delivered for our partners Ark Data Centres, always achieve optimal performance whilst becoming future-ready, AI-optimised infrastructure ready for the next generation of innovation.

The new agreement marks a significant step in the ongoing commitment of the two companies to address the increasing technical and sustainability demands of the global data centre market, in line with the evolving nature of high-performance digital infrastructure.
