Iceotope unveils precision liquid-cooled server 'KUL AI'

Today

Iceotope Technologies has announced the launch of KUL AI, a precision liquid-cooled server designed to enhance artificial intelligence capabilities across various industries.

KUL AI is an 8-GPU server that incorporates the Gigabyte G293 data centre server with Iceotope's Precision Liquid Cooling technology and is powered by Intel Xeon Scalable processors. The server is configured to support dense GPU compute, features NVIDIA Certified-Solutions accreditation, and is optimised for liquid cooling using dielectric fluids. The aim of the KUL AI server is to maintain optimal performance without interruption by efficiently managing temperatures and protecting critical IT components during continuous GPU operations.

The server offers solutions for the growing challenges presented by increased power consumption and data volume associated with emerging technologies such as AI, high-performance computing, and machine learning. Iceotope claims that its advanced cooling system in KUL AI allows for more efficient processing and accurate results. Additionally, KUL AI is reportedly capable of achieving up to four times compaction compared to traditional systems, which helps to manage increased data and model complexities without loss of performance.

KUL AI is designed with various industries in mind, where AI plays an increasingly critical role. Industries such as AI research and development, high-performance computing labs, cloud service providers, media production, visual effects studios, and sectors involved in financial services and quantitative trading are identified as potential beneficiaries of this technology.

KUL AI is part of Iceotope's KUL series and utilises Precision Liquid Cooling technology. This cooling method offers uniform cooling performance across all heat-generating components, reduces reliance on additional air cooling, and contributes to simpler deployments with reduced energy consumption. The thermal management features enhance server utilisation and compute density, reduce energy costs, and extend the lifespan of hardware, which collectively offer a lower total cost of ownership. Specifically, KUL AI can cut energy use by up to 40% and reduce water consumption by 96% while continuing to meet thermal efficiency and sustainability targets.

The server's entire system has been designed for scalability and adaptability, making it suitable for both data centre and edge IT installations. Precision Liquid Cooling removes the need for noisy fans, thus enabling near-silent operation, which is especially beneficial in non-IT environments that still require high-performance computing power.

For environments that require high levels of reliability, KUL AI offers features such as sealed protection at the server level, eliminating risks from airborne contaminants and humidity. This design enhances reliability and reduces the risk of leaks and system damage, making it a safe option for critical environments.

Nathan Blom, co-CEO of Iceotope, commented on the launch, "The unprecedented volume of data being generated by new technologies demands a state-of-the-art solution that not only guarantees server performance but delivers on all vectors of efficiency and sustainability. KUL AI is a pioneering product delivering more computational power and rack space. It offers a scalable system for data centres and is adaptable in non-IT environments, enabling AI everywhere."
