Hyphen appoints Eva Diego to spearhead global growth
Hyphen has appointed Eva Diego as its new Chief Executive Officer, setting a fresh course for the international architectural practice as it targets further growth in digital infrastructure and complex masterplanning.
Diego steps into the role as part of a planned leadership transition. She succeeds long-serving chief executive Eddie Miles, who will remain with the business as Chair.
The appointment places an architect with more than 25 years' experience at the head of a practice that has grown rapidly in recent years. Hyphen works with global brands and digital infrastructure developers and is active across retail, hospitality, workplace, logistics and data centres.
Diego has played a central role in Hyphen's international expansion. She established the firm's Madrid studio, led its push into Latin America and built long-term relationships with major technology and lifestyle brands.
Hyphen is headquartered in Winchester and operates from 11 offices including London, Belfast, Berlin, Dublin, Madrid, Mexico City, Milan, Paris, Santiago and Adelaide. The firm delivered projects in 27 countries during 2025.
Growth strategy
As CEO, Diego will concentrate on strengthening Hyphen's advisory work and on expanding its presence in international architecture and digital infrastructure projects. The company sees demand from both real estate developers and hyperscale data centre operators as a driver for its next phase of growth.
Hyphen has reported a sharp increase in turnover during the past decade. Revenue has more than tripled over that period. The share of turnover generated outside the UK has risen from 46% in 2016 to around 63% in 2025.
The firm ranks 79th in the World Architecture 100 for 2025. It acts for a mix of real estate developers, asset owners and investors across the UK, Europe, Latin America and other regions.
In lifestyle and retail, Hyphen works with PVH, the owner of Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger. It has delivered stores for PVH brands in more than 50 countries.
Digital infrastructure has become a significant part of the business. Hyphen advises CloudHQ on large-scale data centre projects, including a USD $5 billion campus in Querétaro, Mexico. It is also working with Elea Data Centres on the masterplan for Rio AI City, an AI-focused data centre district in Rio de Janeiro.
Focus on digital infrastructure
The growth of data centre development has increased the role of architectural advisory services in the sector. Hyphen provides design and advisory work on privately owned and built-to-suit hyperscale facilities for major cloud providers, as well as colocation and edge data centres in urban locations.
Diego said the business is positioning itself around this shift in the built environment.
"I feel privileged to be taking Hyphen into its exciting next chapter. Global demand for critical digital infrastructure is reshaping the built environment, and we are well positioned to lead. We act as both expert delivery partners and trusted architectural advisors for our clients, helping them to navigate complex and technically demanding projects while ensuring commercial viability," said Eva Diego, CEO of Hyphen.
Hyphen has more than 30 years' experience in the data centre industry. The firm has designed over 2GW of data centre development and has masterplanned over 6GW in the past three years. Its work spans hyperscale campuses, colocation facilities and edge sites.
Planned transition
Miles moves from CEO to Chair after leading the firm through its growth phase and global expansion. He will work with Diego and the wider leadership group on the transition.
The firm views this leadership change as a continuation of its international strategy rather than a shift in direction. Hyphen plans to pursue more advisory-led assignments in areas such as digital infrastructure, complex masterplanning and large mixed-use schemes.
Miles said Diego's promotion reflects the firm's direction and its ambitions outside the UK market.
"Eva's appointment reaffirms Hyphen's ambition to become a truly international practice. She has been central to the business's growth over many years, and I have total confidence in her leadership. My role now is to support Eva and the wider leadership team, ensuring continuity while the business continues to develop," said Miles.
Hyphen expects international projects in digital infrastructure and branded environments to form an increasing share of its workload under Diego's leadership.
