Hitachi Vantara's VSP One lauded as primary storage leader

Yesterday

Hitachi Vantara has been recognised as a Leader and Outperformer in the latest GigaOm Radar Report for Primary Storage for its Virtual Storage Platform One (VSP One) hybrid cloud data platform.

The GigaOm Radar Report for Primary Storage evaluates the abilities of 21 vendors to meet the growing demands of primary storage solutions. The report considers traditional applications, hybrid cloud environments, AI/ML workloads, and edge computing capabilities within its analysis.

This comprehensive evaluation aims to shed light on leading vendors based on their technical capabilities, innovation, and business value. According to the report, the primary storage market exhibits maturity, with many vendors offering advanced features such as AI-driven analytics, ransomware protection, and seamless cloud integration.

The VSP One, which features prominently in the Innovation/Platform Play quadrant of the report, earned high marks (5/5) for its NVMe-oF (Nonvolatile Memory Express over Fabrics) capabilities, cloud integration, and ransomware protection. These features enable high-performance applications, seamless hybrid cloud operations, and provide robust data protection, respectively.

Whit Walters, Field CTO and Analyst at GigaOm, commented on the recognition, "The primary storage market has dramatically evolved over the last 12 months, as developments in AI, ransomware, and seamless cloud integration have pushed the pace of change. To be recognised as a leader requires a company to demonstrate a strong ability to deliver across these areas, and Hitachi Vantara's Virtual Storage Platform One platform embodies their commitment to addressing the critical storage needs of modern enterprises. Their focus on innovation and strong roadmap for the coming year highlights the company's capacity to deliver the adaptability required in today's rapidly evolving IT landscape."

The GigaOm Radar Report also highlights the significance of primary storage as organisations grapple with data growth, ransomware threats, and AI/ML integration challenges. A recent industry survey indicated a 122% expected increase in data storage needs in the United States by 2026, alongside growing concerns over data security and resiliency.

VSP One's ability to provide robust data protection and support diverse workloads—from traditional applications to modern cloud-native and edge-to-core environments—has been noted for offering unmatched scalability, performance, and resiliency. This platform is presented as a strategic choice for enterprises prioritising sustainability, efficiency, and data security.

Octavian Tanase, Chief Product Officer at Hitachi Vantara, stated, "This recognition from GigaOm is a testament to the resiliency, performance, scalability and cybersecurity protection capabilities that we provide and that our customers require. VSP One represents our commitment to delivering innovative, customer-focused storage solutions that address the complex challenges of today's data-driven world. By integrating advanced technologies like NVMe-oF and comprehensive ransomware protection, we empower our clients to achieve greater agility and resilience in their IT operations."

Hitachi Vantara's VSP One has also been acknowledged by ENERGY STAR, which ranks the platform in the top three for performance in energy efficiency. This aligns with the GigaOm report's emphasis on sustainability as a strategic imperative, as organisations are increasingly evaluating storage solutions for power efficiency and environmental impact.

This recognition further enhances Hitachi Vantara's performance portfolio, bolstering its standing within infrastructure, data management, security, and sustainability sectors in the competitive data storage market.
