FiveNines Group has completed a 9.6MW data centre in Europe, marking a milestone for the UK-headquartered construction group.
Delivered under a full general contractor model, the facility has received a Taking Over Certificate for final handover. It also met LEED Gold sustainability standards, a certification framework administered by the U.S. Green Building Council that covers areas including energy efficiency, water conservation and materials.
The build was completed on schedule and recorded zero lost-time incidents. At peak activity, the site employed 560 workers who completed 832,000 working hours, while the project posted an Accident Frequency Rate of 0.21.
Safety focus
Site safety measures included daily leadership tours by the Environment, Health and Safety team alongside management, as well as a Positive Safety Recognition programme. Employee Assistance Programmes were also used to support worker wellbeing and early intervention.
The completion adds to FiveNines' early project record following the group's formation through a management buyout led by Gerry Curran. Curran has more than 30 years of experience in major construction projects and previously served as a board director at Skanska UK.
"We are delighted to have successfully delivered a data centre in partnership with an international client. This milestone demonstrates the capability of FiveNines to execute complex infrastructure projects while maintaining exceptional safety and environmental performance. I'd like to thank our project team and supply chain partners for their commitment and professionalism," said Gerry Curran, Chief Executive Officer, FiveNines Group.
Board team
The board also includes Chief Financial Officer Ramnik Kapur and Non-Executive Directors Kelly Wakeman, Ian Hudson and Michael Tobin CBE. FiveNines has presented that mix of leadership as part of its strategy for infrastructure delivery and growth.
Hudson brings experience across offshore energy, mining and metals, and has held sustainability and environmental strategy roles in several regions. His background also includes operational excellence, QHSE, marketing and strategy.
"FiveNines has a strong reputation for operational excellence and innovation, which made the business an early pioneer in sustainability in the large infrastructure sector, with a passion to drive sustainability forward," said Hudson.
Growth plans
Tobin, a technology entrepreneur, is a former Chief Executive Officer of Telecity, where he oversaw the company's growth from a market capitalisation of £6 million to £2.6 billion. His experience in telecoms and technology spans more than 40 years.
Kapur has worked in strategic finance, accounting and business management across the private and public sectors. Her previous roles include work at an AIM-listed German real estate company with a property portfolio valued at more than €1.8 billion.
"At FiveNines, we never stay still. We embrace change and thrive on new challenges, always with compliance, efficiency and innovation at our core," said Kapur.
Curran has described the business in operational terms shaped by delivery discipline and project execution. "I am proud of our 'can do' attitude, which means that we aspire to deliver all our projects safely, on time, on budget and to a high quality," added Curran.
