Aerospike launches Database 8 with significant updates
Aerospike has announced the release of Database 8, marking a significant upgrade to its multi-model distributed database designed to handle real-time applications.
Aerospike 8 introduces the first real-time distributed database to guarantee strict serializability of ACID transactions. This significant update brings industry-leading performance and efficiency, achieving these at a fraction of the cost traditionally associated with such systems.
The database upgrade expands data consistency guarantees by incorporating strict serializability, the highest possible level of guarantee, to distributed multi-object transactions. This ensures low latency and supports a substantial number of concurrent connections, addressing previously persistent inconsistencies that could otherwise result in costly errors.
Anshu Sharma, Co-founder and CEO of Skyflow, remarked on the development partnership, saying, "Skyflow is excited to be partnering with Aerospike on this new capability as the largest enterprise companies adopt privacy and security for the modern AI data stack."
While single-record request consistency has been a hallmark of Aerospike for nearly a decade, handling millions of transactions per second with sub-millisecond latency, this update broadens those capabilities. Enterprise-grade operations now support large-scale online transaction processing (OLTP) applications in sectors ranging from banking to healthcare.
Subbu Iyer, CEO of Aerospike, commented, "Aerospike has always been a transaction powerhouse, with customers scaling to hundreds of millions of TPS on massive amounts of data. With 8.0, Aerospike has solved one of the most challenging problems in distributed systems so that enterprises can break free from the decades-old trade-off between transactional consistency and high performance — and scale mission-critical applications without compromise."
Adopting Aerospike 8 also means a reduction in hardware resources required, promising significant operational cost savings while aligning with environmental sustainability targets. The update features a distributed transaction support system that simplifies OLTP development by shifting transaction management from the application to the database itself. This development is particularly advantageous for Spring and Java developers.
The multi-model database engine, which accommodates document, key-value, graph, and vector data types, facilitates reduced complexity in development and operations. Developers can select the suitable data model for specific applications, leading to more agile operations.
This flexibility extends to deployment options as the Aerospike database can be implemented across a variety of platforms, including major public clouds and hybrid environments.
Aerospike is the real-time database built for infinite scale, speed, and savings. The company provides a low latency and high throughput data platform. Cloud- and AI-forward, the company empowers organisations such as Adobe, Airtel, Criteo, DBS Bank, Experian, Flipkart, PayPal, Snap, and Sony Interactive Entertainment.
