Viatel adopts Highlight platform to boost SD-WAN transparency
Viatel Technology Group has entered into a strategic partnership with Highlight to integrate the Highlight Service Observability Platform into its operations and managed service offerings.
Viatel plans to use the Highlight platform initially for monitoring its Cisco Meraki SD-WAN and Orion Autofailover services. This move follows a period of acquisition and expansion, during which Viatel incorporated multiple service management tools across different technology teams. The consolidation is intended to increase efficiency, with more than 100 engineers at Viatel set to use the unified platform to manage network performance.
Embedding Highlight within Viatel's managed services will provide customers with access to graphical dashboards and automated reporting. The company aims to deliver more transparent insights into network health and the performance of their digital services. This approach aligns with Viatel's emphasis on improving customer satisfaction and experience through the availability of real-time data and simplified tools.
Damien McCann, Chief Commercial Officer at Viatel Technology Group, said:
"Viatel's mission is to deliver market-leading customer experience through innovation, clarity and trust. Our partnership with Highlight is a strategic step in that journey, giving our teams and our customers a unified, real-time view of their SD-WAN network performance. By simplifying complexity and enhancing transparency, we're not just improving how we manage networks, we're raising the bar for what our customers can expect from their managed service provider."
Highlight's platform is designed to collect and analyse network data from different sources and offer accessible visualisations and service assurance data. For Viatel, this means internal teams and customers can gain unified and immediate oversight of networking issues, which is particularly important as many organisations reduce their on-site IT resources.
Conor Healy, Customer Success Manager at Viatel, offered his perspective on the deployment:
"I've been aware of the Highlight platform for a number of years and have always been impressed by its ability to deliver unified network observability at scale. Integrating it into our solutions is a major step forward for Viatel. With Highlight, we gain visibility across all networks and technology services, enabling faster response times and proactive management.
"The platform's single-pane-of-glass approach enables our network operations and support teams to quickly identify and address issues. The fact that Highlight is a looking-glass system means our engineers can safely investigate without affecting live services."
"Highlight's automated reporting capabilities drastically reduce the time spent gathering and analysing data from disparate tools. This will lead to more frequent, focused and transparent reviews with our customers.
"As many customers reduce their on-site IT presence, Highlight provides them with intuitive graphical tools that offer full visibility into the services they receive. This will build trust, strengthen relationships and support more constructive conversations, ensuring there are no surprises when it comes time for contract renewals."
The adoption of the Highlight Service Observability Platform is a response to developments in customer and market expectations around managed connectivity and digital transformation. Viatel's offering, including its Cisco Meraki SD-WAN and the Orion Autofailover solution, addresses market demand for secure, high-availability networking and reduced operational downtime.
Highlight's platform has received industry recognition, including a Cisco Innovation Global Award, and its tools are designed to translate technical data into clear, actionable insights for both service providers and enterprise customers.
The partnership between Viatel and Highlight reflects industry trends in providing automated, transparent and customer-friendly digital infrastructure solutions.
