OVHcloud launches global Managed Rancher Service for multi-cloud

OVHcloud has announced the global release of its Managed Rancher Service, which aims to usher organisations into the multi-cloud era.

This development follows the introduction of its beta version at KubeCon 2024 last April. By leveraging Rancher, a widely adopted orchestration tool, the service is aimed at medium-sized and enterprise organisations with multiple clusters or a multi-cloud architecture.

The complete Rancher Kubernetes management solution has been developed in collaboration with SUSE, a leader in innovative open-source solutions. Peter Smails, SVP, General Manager of Enterprise Container Management at SUSE, commented, "We are excited for OVHcloud to be offering SUSE's Rancher solution to their global customer base. The Managed Rancher Service is part of OVHcloud's Public Cloud product portfolio. It provides a fully featured private Rancher deployment that allows management and orchestration of Kubernetes clusters on any cloud. This is facilitated through a user-friendly interface, which offers access to an extensible service catalogue, including services for observability and service meshes.

The service aims to unify Kubernetes clusters for consistent operations and workload management, featuring robust security options. Customers can manage users and rules via a single pane of glass UI. Rancher's multi-cluster management capabilities allow organisations to integrate their existing nodes and infrastructure seamlessly into OVHcloud's infrastructure. Its multi-tenant architecture includes secure authentication options and comprehensive security policies, enhancing overall security and isolation within container environments.

Customers using OVHcloud's Managed Rancher Service will benefit from OVHcloud's expertise in infrastructure within environmentally friendly data centres. These data centres are noted for their high security and data protection standards, including ISO 27001 certification and HDS certification for selected services. The organisation's unique industrial model incorporates a water-cooling system, which contributes to best-in-class Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE) indexes.

The Managed Rancher Service is available globally, except in the United States, and offers a pay-as-you-go pricing model. Two subscription plans are offered: the OVHcloud Edition for managing OVHcloud-hosted Kubernetes and the Standard Edition for supporting multi-cloud workloads.
