Oracle brings AI-powered database to AWS with wider partner reach
Oracle has announced new capabilities for its Oracle Database@AWS service, along with a programme enabling customers to purchase the offering through Oracle and AWS channel partners.
The company stated that the Oracle Database@AWS service now supports Oracle Autonomous AI Lakehouse, Oracle Database Zero Data Loss Recovery Service, and Terraform. The enhanced features aim to address the needs of mission-critical workloads for enterprise customers migrating to the cloud.
Enterprise uptake
According to Oracle, enterprises such as Zema Global are adopting Oracle Database@AWS to meet operational requirements and support business-critical processes. The service allows customers to migrate their Oracle Exadata workloads to AWS with minimal changes, retaining feature support and performance levels comparable to on-premises systems.
Zero-ETL integrations ensure that data is unified across Oracle and AWS platforms, supporting analytics, machine learning, and generative AI applications, including those built with Amazon Bedrock. Oracle highlighted the support for collaborative services, centralised procurement through AWS Marketplace, and options for customers to leverage existing AWS and Oracle commitments.
"Since making Oracle Database@AWS generally available in July, we've seen strong demand from large enterprises across a wide range of industries," said Karan Batta, Senior Vice President, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. "The newly added Oracle AI Database capabilities deliver advanced security features, intelligent data protection and resiliency with near-instantaneous data recovery, while allowing DevOps teams to deploy infrastructure-as-code to simplify database management. With the introduction of a partner program reseller option, customers can now conveniently access Oracle Database@AWS through their trusted partners, broadening the reach and flexibility of the offering."
Ruba Borno, Vice President, AWS Specialists and Partners, commented on the advantages of the expanded purchasing channels: "Data is really the key to unlocking the value of AI and agents. With Oracle Database@AWS now available for resale, customers have more choice and flexibility to access this offering through their trusted partners, giving them a seamless and simplified way to bring all their data together on AWS to build AI applications and agents that truly transform their business."
Chad Ellison, CTO at Zema Global, stated: "Oracle Database@AWS has provided Zema Global with a simplified migration path from on-premises to AWS that dramatically improves uptime and resiliency while delivering the low-latency access to historical market data that our energy and commodity traders demand. The ability to now combine all of our enterprise data with Amazon Bedrock enables us to develop innovative AI solutions that deliver even greater value to our customers as we complete our data center exit strategy."
Feature details
The Oracle Database Zero Data Loss Recovery Service is designed to protect customers' transactions in real time, enabling business-critical data recovery to within less than a second following outages or ransomware attacks, either locally or across AWS or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) regions. Features include daily virtualised full backups, an incremental-forever model, automatic backup validation, and policy controls for immutability to help secure encrypted backups.
The Oracle Autonomous AI Lakehouse combines the Apache Iceberg open data tables format with Oracle's AI Database 26ai, Exadata, and Autonomous AI Database. Zero-ETL integration with AWS is available for AI and analytics applications. Additionally, support for Terraform allows DevOps teams to manage Oracle Database@AWS resources as code, integrating with existing workflows for provisioning and operational management.
The platform is also certified to Gold Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) standards, meaning it is validated for resilience to server and regional outages with minimal impact on operations and data.
Partner programme and industry support
User access to Oracle Database@AWS has been broadened with the introduction of a channel partner programme. This enables eligible partners in the AWS Partner Network and the Oracle PartnerNetwork to resell the service via the AWS Channel Partner Private Offers (CPPO) programme. Partners are able to bundle services, customise contract terms, and offer flexible pricing, while maintaining direct billing with their customers through AWS Marketplace.
This change is intended to give customers more options and faster access, while supporting the involvement of partners with expertise in specific sectors.
Andy Tay, Global Lead, Accenture Cloud First, commented: "For many enterprises, their most valuable business data is still on-premises in Oracle databases. As a strategic partner for both Oracle and AWS, this new partner program will help Accenture accelerate our clients' migration of mission-critical workloads to the cloud with Oracle Database@AWS to enhance agility and enable continuous reinvention and innovation. Together, we can help our clients unite the high performance and scalability of the AI-powered Oracle AI Database with AWS's advanced analytics and generative AI services to get the most from their investments"
Kashif Rahamatullah, Principal, Multi-Alliances Go-To-Market Leader, Deloitte Consulting LLP, commented: "Enterprises today demand agility, intelligent innovation, and the ability to pivot quickly in a dynamic environment. Deloitte's technology relationships empower organizations to harness transformative new capabilities, like deploying Oracle's robust enterprise database on AWS, coupled with advanced AI and analytics. With Oracle Database@AWS, Deloitte can enable meaningful business outcomes for our clients by accelerating time-to-insight, driving operational resilience, and fostering ongoing innovation."
Dinesh Rao, Executive Vice President & Chief Delivery Officer, Infosys, added: "At Infosys, we are committed to helping global enterprises modernize and develop a strong foundation on cloud. Through the Oracle Database@AWS partner program, we combine our cloud and AI expertise with Oracle AI Database 26ai's capabilities and AWS's advanced generative AI and analytics services, helping drive new innovations for our clients."
Regional expansion
Oracle Database@AWS is currently offered in the AWS US East (N. Virginia) and US West (Oregon) regions. Oracle and AWS plan to increase global coverage, with intended expansion to 20 additional AWS regions, including London, Frankfurt, Hyderabad, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, and others.
