Nvidia plans to invest in four French-linked startups and expand its AI activity in France, deepening its presence in one of Europe's most active markets for so-called sovereign AI.

The new investments are in Doctolib, Entalpic, Genesis AI and Pigment. The companies work across healthcare, materials research, robotics and business planning, reflecting the breadth of AI adoption in France.

Nvidia has previously invested in Alice&Bob, Gradium and Scintil Photonics. Across Europe, it has committed nearly USD $10 billion to the technology ecosystem.

France has become a focal point for AI infrastructure and deployment as companies and public bodies seek to keep data, models and computing resources under domestic or European control. The approach has gained traction in public administration, banking, telecoms and research.

Startup backing

Doctolib develops software to help healthcare professionals automate parts of their work and give patients digital tools to manage their care. Paris-based Entalpic focuses on materials engineering at the atomic scale, with an emphasis on semiconductor manufacturing and electronics.

Genesis AI is building general-purpose robots using foundation models, simulation systems and robot hardware. Paris-based Pigment makes planning software for forecasting, scenario modelling and decision-making across finance, sales, workforce and operations.

Infrastructure push

Beyond startup funding, French organisations are expanding their use of Nvidia-based systems. Bull is extending its European AI server production to Nvidia Vera Rubin Ultra NVL72 systems, with trays due to be produced in Europe and rack integration handled at its Angers factory.

Space technology is also part of the expansion. Altair-1, described as the first satellite in a USD $1 billion, 50-satellite constellation with onboard autonomous functions, has reached orbit using Nvidia Jetson AGX Orin edge modules and Mistral models for Earth observation and autonomous operations.

Public sector and banking

French groups are also building AI services around open models. LINAGORA and Docaposte have secured the CANUT framework agreement, making Twake.ai the only referenced sovereign digital workplace for more than 2,500 French public organisations. Twake.ai is built on Nvidia Nemotron models.

In finance, SBS is introducing a sovereign AI platform for banks that want to run generative and agentic services within their own environments. The project is being developed with Nvidia.

Mistral has separately introduced Mistral Large 4 under private preview, adding another French-developed open model for companies seeking more control over deployment and customisation. Fondation Inria, with Nvidia's support, is also launching a working group on open-source advanced modelling and tool adoption.

Industrial use cases

French companies are already using the technology in day-to-day operations. L'Oréal is integrating Nvidia ALCHEMI into research workflows so scientists can test formulation options in silico before laboratory work.

Mirakl has onboarded more than 70 million products using fine-tuned and open models running on Nvidia GPUs and inference software, cutting seller catalogue onboarding times to less than two hours. Photoroom and Vestiaire Collective are using visual modelling in marketplace operations, while Omi is combining approved 3D digital twins with open models on Nvidia systems to produce AI-generated marketing visuals at scale.

In local public infrastructure, ThinkDeep and Akila have built a digital-twin agent for Côte-d'Or that manages nearly 5,800 kilometres of roads and buildings. The system has cut total operating costs by 10% and is targeting 30% as deployment continues. Port Sud de France is also using ThinkDeep's DeepBrain platform for goods processing and port security.

Robotics and telecoms

Other applications are emerging in healthcare and communications. Paris-based Enchanted Tools is deploying social robots in care settings, including paediatric cancer care.

Bouygues Telecom and Prisme.ai have launched AI Studio V2, which lets employees build their own agents in what the companies describe as a secure and controlled environment. The system runs on Nvidia infrastructure.

Quantum links

French quantum companies are also working with Nvidia technology. Alice & Bob has integrated the Nvidia NVQLink platform for its superconducting cat qubits as part of its work on quantum error correction.

Quandela is using NVQLink to connect a DGX Spark system with its photonic qubits as it develops hybrid quantum-classical computing systems. The projects underline how France's AI buildout is extending beyond software into computing architecture, telecoms, robotics, public systems and quantum research.
