Nordic DC atNorth recognised at RAC Cooling Industry Awards

Wed, 3rd Jul 2024

Nordic data centre services company atNorth has been recognised at the RAC Cooling Industry Awards for its innovative cooling technology and commitment to customer service. The company was shortlisted in the 'Customer Initiative of the Year' category at the awards ceremony, now in its 21st year.

The RAC Cooling Industry Awards celebrate innovation, best practices, and business excellence in the refrigeration and air conditioning sectors. As global awareness grows about the energy demands of data centres, particularly those catering to AI and other data-intensive industries, atNorth highlighted the benefits of its location in the Nordic region, which allows for highly energy-efficient cooling technologies.

atNorth's recognition came as a result of its work with Shearwater Geoservices. Shearwater initially had reservations about moving its digital infrastructure from the UK to atNorth's data centre in Iceland. Through extensive liaison and access to atNorth's Gompute HPCaaS Platform for pre-migration testing, Shearwater successfully moved its HPC operations to atNorth's ICE02 site. This migration resulted in a 92% reduction in CO2 output and an 85% reduction in cost for Shearwater.

Anna Kristín Pálssdóttir, Chief Development Officer at atNorth, said, "We are delighted to be acknowledged at RAC's Annual Cooling Awards. The cooling of digital infrastructure is becoming a fundamental factor in choosing a data centre partner, and we are committed to raising awareness of more sustainable options in the industry."

This recognition follows atNorth's recent wins in the Digital Infrastructure Project of the Year category at the Tech Capital Awards and the Colocation Provider of the Year category at the Electrical Review & Data Centre Review Awards. In addition, atNorth has garnered accolades from multiple other awarding bodies, including TechRound's Sustainability60 campaign, the Data Cloud Global Awards, the Energy Awards, the DCS Awards, and the UK Green Business Awards.

The recognition at the RAC Cooling Industry Awards underscores atNorth's commitment to sustainability and innovation in the data centre industry. By pushing the boundaries of energy-efficient cooling technologies and delivering exceptional customer service, atNorth provides significant environmental and cost benefits to its clients. As the company garners accolades and expands its influence, it remains dedicated to promoting sustainable digital infrastructure solutions that meet the evolving demands of global enterprises.
