Mike Meyer joins data centre board to boost talent supply
The Data Centre Alliance (DCA) has announced the appointment of Mike Meyer to its Executive Board.
Mike Meyer, the Managing Director of Portman Partners, joins the DCA as part of its mission to manage talent acquisition and workforce development in the rapidly evolving data centre sector. The DCA represents the entire data centre community in the UK and plays a crucial role in promoting understanding of the importance of data centres in the digital age.
Since its establishment in 2010, the DCA has been advocating for the sustainability, resilience, and agility of the data centre ecosystem. The growing dependency on digital services has highlighted the need for the DCA to focus on securing talent and shaping future industry leaders, particularly in light of significant labour challenges.
As an Executive Board Member, Mike Meyer will be addressing the urgency to attract a younger workforce to replace an ageing sector, with the average employee age currently standing at 53. His experience in talent acquisition will support DCA's initiatives aimed at this demographic shift. Meyer will also represent the DCA at various industry events throughout the year.
Steve Hone, CEO of the Data Centre Alliance, explained the rationale behind Meyer's appointment: "Mike's deep understanding of the sector, coupled with his passion for talent development, makes him a perfect fit for The DCA's Executive Board. As digital infrastructure is forecast to triple in the coming years, it is crucial that we address the skills shortage head-on, and Mike's extensive experience will be invaluable."
Mike Meyer will continue his involvement with the DCA beyond this year, representing the organisation at its events and partner events across the UK and Europe in 2025.
