Harbr Data & Databricks partner on secure AI data platform
Harbr Data has been named as a Built on Databricks partner in recognition of its integration with the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform.
The partnership aims to enable enterprises, governments, and large data-centric organisations to securely discover, access and use data and artificial intelligence products while meeting compliance obligations.
Integration details
Harbr Data's private marketplace is integrated with Databricks and designed to provide permission-based sharing of live data across different platforms and regions. According to the company, it also maintains secure data governance and compliance in regulated sectors, supporting organisations with complex needs around deployment, data residency, and regulatory requirements.
The integration allows customers to create secure digital environments within their existing Databricks infrastructure. Within these environments, data products can be curated, discovered, managed, and shared. Harbr's offerings include curated and permissioned homepages and listings, integrated with Databricks Unity Catalog-a unified governance solution for data and AI assets.
Other features of Harbr's marketplace and Databricks integration include instant and secure sharing facilitated by multiple cloud connectors, such as Delta Sharing. This open-source approach from Databricks supports live data sharing across platforms, public cloud environments, and multiple regions while preserving security and governance policies. Customers are able to query data using SQL Warehouse on Databricks or other supported sources, with support for both SQL and natural language queries.
Use cases and compliance
The combined platform is intended to serve sectors with stringent regulatory requirements, including those operating across multiple jurisdictions. The companies state that their approach allows organisations to achieve greater control over data governance and compliance, while also increasing accessibility and operational usability for technical and business users alike.
Harbr Data reports feedback from clients indicating improved speed in deriving value from data and AI investments, as well as reductions in risk exposure. Customers leveraging Harbr's integration with Databricks are said to be using the marketplace for a variety of data sharing and analysis purposes within highly regulated business contexts.
Statements from leadership
Anthony Cosgrove, Co-founder of Harbr Data, commented:
"We built Harbr Data to make data more useful to the people who need it most, without losing sight of security, governance, or control. Achieving Built on status with Databricks is a crucial validation of our technical approach - but more importantly, it's proof that our customers can confidently bring governed data products to life inside their Databricks environments. Together, we're helping enterprises turn their data investments into real, measurable outcomes."
Heather Akuiyibo, Vice President of GTM Integration at Databricks, added:
"Companies want to use their data to build intelligent applications, but are often held back by data governance and unification challenges. By combining Databricks' powerful data and AI capabilities with Harbr Data's governed data marketplace approach, enterprises can not only manage and secure their data, but also make it truly accessible and actionable across their organizations. That's a powerful combination for driving data-driven decision-making at scale."
Clients and sectors
Harbr Data's platform is used by companies such as Moody's and Cotality, alongside Fortune 500 businesses and government departments. Its integration with Databricks aims to address data management, access, and compliance challenges faced by both commercial enterprises and public sector organisations managing complex or sensitive information.
The companies highlight that the partnership will facilitate secure and governed sharing of live data products, enabling customers in regulated industries to break down data silos, improve compliance, and increase operational agility in their data-driven projects.
