8x8 launches French data centre to boost secure CX services
8x8 has opened a data centre in France to provide local businesses and public sector organisations with secure and compliant communication services.
The new facility is designed to support artificial intelligence-powered customer experience (CX) solutions, while adhering to both the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and France's specific data residency requirements. According to 8x8, this move is part of a wider commitment to the French market and Europe in general, aimed at delivering high-performance communications and reinforcing data sovereignty for local clients.
Local investment
The French data centre represents a critical investment for 8x8, intended to allow businesses and public organisations within the country to use modern communications technology while ensuring that their data remains stored locally. This is particularly significant for regulated sectors or organisations with heightened security and compliance needs.
The development follows a period of growth for 8x8 in France, marked by the appointment of Christian Laloy as Country Manager and new partnerships with digital transformation firm SCC and the Association Française de la Relation Client (AFRC).
"While others choose to operate remotely, we're investing locally," said Christian Laloy, Country Manager, France at 8x8. "Some providers choose not to locate in France and in my mind that shows a lack of respect for the local businesses, the local people and the culture. This new data center makes our position clear: 8x8 is committed to serving French organizations with secure and fully compliant technology and transparency."
Supporting compliance and performance
The data centre is part of a broader approach by 8x8 to support sectors requiring in-country data storage, low network latency, and enterprise-level reliability. The company says this step is intended to meet the needs of industries and organisations where regulatory compliance and secure communication are a priority.
Regis Davesne, Director at SCC France, commented on the importance of local data storage and the implications for trust and compliance among French customers.
"8x8 isn't just entering the market with an innovative approach: by locating its data centers in France, the company helps deliver its customers a high level of data sovereignty, in line with European regulatory requirements," said Regis Davesne, Director of digital transformation specialists SCC France. "This choice significantly boosts confidence and makes a real difference for customers looking for a solid, reliable long-term partner."
Strategic growth in Europe
The opening of the French data centre is one of several investments the company has planned across Europe in 2025. As 8x8 continues to expand in markets characterised by rapid growth and strong compliance requirements, it aims to strengthen its position by providing reliable infrastructure that meets local legislative expectations.
The company underscores that these European investments are intended to offer partners a competitive advantage, as well as reassurance regarding local hosting mandates and European regulations.
8x8 has also signalled that this local deployment aligns with broader efforts to foster trust and compliance among clients, particularly enterprises looking for solutions compatible with French and European law governing data use and storage.
Through its unified CX platform, 8x8 offers a suite of services integrating contact centre, unified communication, and communications platform as a service (CPaaS) capabilities, with an emphasis on utilising artificial intelligence at various levels to support customer journeys and team collaboration.
