Vertiv & GreenScale partner on AI-ready data centres

Vertiv has entered a strategic collaboration with GreenScale that positions the US-based infrastructure provider as the preferred supplier of prefabricated, AI-focused data centre platforms for new projects across Europe.

Under the agreement, Vertiv will deliver standardised Vertiv OneCore hybrid-built data centre modules for GreenScale campuses. GreenScale will take responsibility for slab-down construction and site-wide infrastructure.

The partnership centres on factory-integrated platforms designed for high-density artificial intelligence workloads. Vertiv's modules are engineered for liquid-cooled deployments of NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GB200 and GB300 graphics processing units, and future Vera Rubin GPUs.

AI-focused build-out

GreenScale is planning a large expansion of its data centre footprint in Europe. The company expects to develop around 120 MW of capacity in Northern Ireland and more than 300 MW across the Nordics. It has set out a longer-term vision for close to 1 GW of capacity in the region.

Vertiv secured the preferred provider status after a competitive pre-qualification questionnaire process. The OneCore platform will form part of GreenScale's standard design for future campuses.

Vedran Brzic, VP Infrastructure Solutions Business EMEA at Vertiv, said high-density computing is shaping infrastructure decisions. "AI workloads demand density and speed," said Brzic.

He continued, "By integrating the Vertiv OneCore platform into GreenScale's standard design, we can help to accelerate deployment of scalable infrastructure for AI, high-performance (HPC), and high-density computing. Our scalable prefabricated solution integrates our proven power, thermal, and IT infrastructure into a single factory-assembled system that can help customers deploy high-density capacity more efficiently while increasing reliability and performance."

Liquid cooling design

The Vertiv OneCore platform supports rack densities of more than 200 kW. It incorporates coolant distribution units with a dual-loop liquid cooling system.

The platform links with Vertiv SmartRun overhead prefabricated infrastructure. SmartRun includes an integrated secondary fluid network for liquid-cooled thermal management that Vertiv has optimised for GPU-intensive architectures. It also includes power distribution.

Vertiv will ship the data centre modules as factory-built and pre-tested units. GreenScale will handle on-site services, including grid integration, permitting, battery monitoring and security systems, and slab-down construction.

European expansion plans

GreenScale is backed by DTCP, a digital infrastructure investor. The company focuses on large-scale data centre campuses for hyperscale, AI and cloud customers in European markets.

The developer plans an AI-oriented model for new facilities. It intends to match build timelines and site design with technology partners that can deliver standardised, scalable infrastructure.

The collaboration gives Vertiv a route into future GreenScale projects as GPU-based computing demand increases. GreenScale's roadmap includes both near-term projects in Northern Ireland and the Nordics and a longer-range build-out approaching 1 GW across Europe.
