DigitalOcean unveils new malware protection for Cloudways platform

Fri, 31st May 2024

DigitalOcean, a cloud technology company optimised for startups and growing digital businesses, has introduced a new Malware Protection add-on for its Cloudways platform. This new feature, powered by Imunify360, aims to simplify malware detection and protection for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), which are increasingly targeted by cyber-attacks.

Data from 2023 indicates that nearly one in three (32%) businesses experienced a cyber breach or attack, with malware incidents on the rise. The impact of such breaches is particularly severe for smaller enterprises, often resulting in significant financial losses. The new Cloudways Malware Protection add-on is designed to address this issue by alerting businesses to malware threats and providing real-time detection and elimination capabilities.

The Malware Protection add-on is compatible with various PHP-based applications, including popular platforms such as WordPress, Magento, Laravel, and custom PHP. This broad compatibility ensures that a wide range of businesses can benefit from this enhanced security solution. The add-on's advanced capabilities, such as Runtime Active Self Protection (RASP), enable it to scan and protect files dynamically, eliminating malicious code before it can inflict damage.

Suhaib Zaheer, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cloudways at DigitalOcean, emphasised the importance of robust security measures for businesses operating online. "Protecting your business against malicious attacks is of the utmost importance, but it can be tricky to navigate what solutions will meet your security needs, especially as new risks emerge daily. We are proud to deliver our new and affordable Malware Protection add-on which helps safeguard against malware attacks, so ambitious businesses can provide the best service to their customers, without being derailed by security breaches," Zaheer stated.

The introduction of the Malware Protection add-on reflects DigitalOcean's commitment to providing comprehensive and user-friendly security solutions. Tyler Healy, Chief Information Security Officer at DigitalOcean, noted the suitability of Imunify360 for this initiative. "Imunify360 was the perfect match for this next milestone of Cloudways' Managed Hosting suite of services. With a rigorous set of hosted-app security features and proven effectiveness at stopping attacks, this aligned perfectly with our mission to offer comprehensive security protection for our customers. This is a fantastic, cost-effective solution for customers to start using today," Healy commented.

The add-on is available worldwide, with pricing starting at USD $4 per application per month. Bulk pricing options are also available, catering to the needs of digital agencies and freelancers. This cost-effective pricing model aims to make advanced security measures accessible to even the smallest businesses.

DigitalOcean's Cloudways platform offers fully managed and flexible cloud hosting solutions that enable customers to scale and grow their digital operations efficiently. With an emphasis on performance, security, and reliability, Cloudways aims to empower developers, startups, agencies, and e-commerce companies to deliver exceptional digital experiences. The addition of the Malware Protection add-on enhances this comprehensive offering, providing businesses with the tools they need to protect their digital assets in an increasingly hostile cyber landscape.
